POUVOIR ET VOULOIR - French verbs
Here are two new-ish French verbs from the same verb-ending family :
POUVOIR (to be able to)
Je peux
Tu peux
Il peut
Elle peut
Nous pouvons

* typically followed by another verb, most often -er
e.g. "Je peux voler." = I can fly.
** most often used by students for asking permission : "Est-ce que je peux....?"
VOULOIR (to want, to wish for)

We also learned how to make negative statements with verbs on Friday, and we will be returning to this from time to time throughout the year. Just like the former Pets unit, where we changed "J'aime..." into "Je n'aime pas..." to make it negative, the basic strategy is the 'negative sandwich', where NE and PAS are the 'bread' slices to put around the verb 'filling'.
